Chelsea v Man City confirmed XIs: Hudson-Odoi and Foden start

The starting line-ups have been announced for the Community Shield match between Manchester City and Chelsea with some bright young players on show.

Teenage star Phil Foden starts in midfield for Premier League City, with Kyle Walker and John Stones back in defence following their World Cup campaign with England

There is also place in the starting XI for new signing Riyad Mahrez at Wembley as he has shaken off an ankle knock picked up in pre-season.

The Algerian starts alongside Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero in a frightening front three atop a strong City line-up.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has kept the faith in Callum Hudson-Odoi, starting the 17-year-old as part of his so-far favoured front three alongside Pedro and Alvaro Morata – who will be sporting his new number of 29.

The Blues are unchanged from their side which lost to Arsenal on penalties in their pre-season friendly on Wednesday, meaning Ross Barkley starts with Cesc Fabregas and new-signing Jorginho in midfield.

Willy Caballero starts in goal for Chelsea, and will be hoping to get the better of his former side, while also potentially auditioning for the role as number one with Thibaut Courtois’ future in doubt.

This is just the second Community Shield meeting between the two sides, with City winning the previous encounter 3-2 in 2012 as defending champions of the Premier League.

Despite both sides not being at full-strength due to World Cup commitments, fans were excited to see Foden and Hudson-Odoi starting at Wembley.
