Keita Balde returns to Serie A with Inter after one season with Monaco

Inter Milan have completed the signing of Senegalese international Keita Balde Diao on a season-long loan from Monaco.

The 23-year-old forward ends a one-year association with the Ligue 1 club after relocating to the San Siro for a reported loan fee of £4.5m though it could become permanent next summer as Keita’s deal has an option to buy clause with Inter requiring to pay around £30m.

A former Barcelona youth player, Keita joined Inter’s league rivals Lazio in July 2013 having never played for the Catalan giants senior team and would go on to make no fewer than 137 appearances for the Rome-based club registering 37 goals and creating a further 27 for his teammates.

He’d subsequently join Monaco last summer for a reported £27.8m and would feature across 34 matches in all competitions last season bagging 11 assists and eight goals along the way.

His move to the Nerazzurri sees him become the club’s eighth major acquisition this summer following the high profile signings of Radja Nainggolan and Lautaro Martínez from Roma and Racing Club respectively.

Keita, who reunites with former Lazio colleague Stefan de Vrij, could make his Inter debut when Luciano Spalletti’s men begin their 2018/19 Serie A campaign away to Sassuolo on August 19.
