Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud rules out Marseille move

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has no plans to return home amid speculation linking him with Marseille.

The 31-year-old French marksman joined his present team in January ending a five-and-a-half-year association with Arsenal.

Giroud’s current deal at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2019 and the World Cup winner is only thinking about playing under Maurizio Sarri.

“I have heard many things that have been said in the media. In the near future, my goal isn’t to return to France. For now, I’m a Chelsea player,” he told Le Dauphine.

“I have no limits. I feel good physically, I’m still young. I have not set a date for my international retirement.”

Giroud in England

Since joining English football from Montpellier, where he won the Ligue 1 title, in 2012 he would go on to feature in no fewer than 253 matches for Arsenal managing 105 goals and creating a further 41.

During his time with the Gunners he’d lift three FA Cups, before adding a fourth with Chelsea, as well as three Community Shields.

Since moving to west London he’s bagged five goals across 18 matches with three of those strikes coming in the Premier League.

Chelsea begin their 2018/19 league campaign away to Huddersfield Town on August 11.
