Lyon publicly refute claims Barcelona defender Yerry Mina has agreed Everton transfer

Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais have publicly denied claims that Barcelona centre-back Yerry Mina has agreed a deal to move to Premier League side Everton.

Mina is a potential target for both clubs with Barcelona seemingly happy to let the Colombian defender leave the Nou Camp after his short tenure at the club.

The powerful defender provided some excellent performances for Colombia this summer at the Fifa World Cup in Russia with the South Americans eventually losing out to England on penalties in the round of 16.

Mina – who managed to score three goals in three matches at the World Cup – showcased his qualities to the world, with both Everton and Lyon now interested in bringing him to their respective clubs.

However, despite reports stating that a deal had been agreed between the Toffees and the Catalonia club, Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas has stressed that the 23-year-old is still “very interested” in joining the French side.

Posting via his official Twitter account, Aulas said: “Yerry [Mina] is still very interested in Lyon.

“We all want him to become a Lyon player too so he can play Champions League.”

The Barcelona player has played just six times in all competitions for the La Liga outfit since his transfer from Brazilian club Palmeiras for a transfer fee of €11.8 million back in January of this year.

He was the first Colombian to play for Barcelona and despite arriving with potential, it looks as if Mina’s time at Barcelona is up. His destination is apparently yet to be decided.
