Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura has tipped Manchester United newcomer Fred to thrive at Old Trafford following his arrival over the summer.
The Red Devils acquired the services of the Brazilian midfielder from Shakhtar Donetsk after parting with £52m, as the club looked to quickly replace the retiring Michael Carrick.
So far the 25-year-old has started in United’s opening two matches, including the 3-2 defeat against Brighton last weekend, but compatriot Lucas Moura believes his fellow countryman will flourish under the auspices of Jose Mourinho this season.
The Spurs winger will have the opportunity to test himself against Fred as the north London club lock horns with Mourinho’s men on Monday night, and the former PSG player has spoken about the ability of the central midfielder.
“It’s very good to have another Brazilian in the Premier League and in a strong team like Manchester United,” he told the club’s official website.
“Fred is a very, very good player, he’s young and he has a big future both in the Premier League and in the national team.
“He has a lot of quality. When he gets forward from midfield, he can shoot with both feet and he is quick and intelligent.
“I think he can be a very good player for United and I’m happy that he’s here in the Premier League, but I hope we win against him this time!”

Spurs right-back Serge Aurier also lauded the threat of Fred having faced the midfielder during a Champions League encounter between PSG and the Brazilian’s former club Shakhtar Donetsk.
“Fred is a very good player,” he said.
“He likes to play freely with the ball, he likes to run and he moves well from box to box.
“I remember when I played against him when he was at Shakhtar Donetsk and I was at PSG, he played well but he was only young then.
“Now he has got much more experience, he’s been to the World Cup.
“He signed with Manchester United in the summer and, for me, that was a good decision by United. He’s good defensively and it’s a big, big test when you’re against him but we also have very good players and we will be trying to play our game and get the three points.”
Fred has failed to convert many fans of the Premier League as of yet following two average performances for Man Utd.
Nevertheless, his displays in the Champions League over the past few seasons – as Serge Aurier can attest to – suggest that we are yet to see the best of what the Brazilian has to offer.
Fred won more tackles (23) and completed more take-ons (23) than any other Shakhtar player in the Champions League this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side travel to Old Trafford on Monday night hoping to end their woeful record against Man Utd, having not scored in their last four encounters away from home.
Fred himself will be looking to prove the Spurs duo right with a top-class display to match their glowing review of his ability.
