Marcelo admits Real Madrid are missing Cristiano Ronaldo

Brazilian full-back Marcelo has admitted Real Madrid are missing “best in the world” Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 33-year-old Portuguese forward sensationally joined Italian powerhouse Juventus this summer from the 13-time European champions in a deal reportedly worth £88.3m.

In his absence, Real have won their opening two league fixtures of the 2018/19 season, but club president Florentino Pérez hasn’t signed a direct replacement, with Marcelo conceding his absence is being felt.

“[Ronaldo] is the best in the world,” he told reporters (via Goal) following their recent 1-4 win at Girona.

“It’s obvious that you miss playing with him but Bale and Benzema are really good, too.”

King Ronaldo

Ronaldo, who joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009 for a then world record sum of £80million, leaves as the club’s all-time top scorer having registered 450 goals across 438 games.

During his time in the Spanish capital, he’s lifted four European Cups (including the last three on the bounce) and two La Liga crowns, as well as securing two Copa del Rey titles.

Of his five Ballon d’Or successes, a record he shares with Lionel Messi, four of those have been claimed while representing Los Blancos.

The current holder of Football’s most prestigious individual award, Ronaldo made his Juve debut away to Chievo Verona before taking on Lazio at home but he’s yet to register a goal for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
