Aubameyang reveals the top speeds of the Arsenal squad

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has disclosed details regarding the club’s fastest player statistics.

During a training session on Wednesday, Unai Emery decided to put his players through their paces, as the Arsenal team were made to perform a number of speed tests.

Unsurprisingly the former Borussia Dortmund pace-merchant topped the charts, while known speedster Hector Bellerin closely followed him in second place.

The prolific Gabonese forward clocked an impressive “Max Speed” time of 10.01 and a percentage “Max Speed” of 97%, while newcomer Lucas Torreira finished bottom of the list.

Also near the foot of the table was another new face in French teenager Matteo Guendouzi, who has impressed during his first two matches of top-flight football.

The 19-year-old joined from Ligue 2 outfit Lorient and has endured an ominous beginning to life in north London, having started in the middle of the park against both Manchester City and Chelsea.

One new signing who was surprisingly able to hold his own with some of the Gunners’ more prominent sprinters was a former Dortmund teammate of Aubameyang, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who clocked in at a “Max Speed” of 9.59.

Elsewhere Stephan Lichtsteiner proved that age is just a number after boasting a speed of 9.00 above Guendouzi, Torreira, Xhaka, Elneny and Monreal.

Arsenal have had a difficult start to life post-Arsene Wenger, but will have the chance to pick up their first points of the season when they face West Ham this weekend.
