Davy Klaassen leaves Everton after three Premier League starts and 251 minutes

Davy Klaassen has left Everton for German club Werder Bremen for £12million.

The 16-time Dutch international managed just 251 league minutes for Everton last season and didn’t contribute a single goal or assist in that time.

The £12million fee is just half of what Everton paid Ajax for Klaassen’s services last year in what will surely go down as one of the club’s most disastrous transfers in history.

Werder Bremen head coach, Florian Kohfeldt, identified Klaassen as the club’s number one target this summer and will be hoping he can rekindle the form that saw him score 14 goals and make nine assists during his final year at Ajax.

He told Werder Bremen’s official website: “With him, we brought our absolute favourite player to the Weser.

“We have been watching him for a long time and are glad that this opportunity has opened up.

“With his strategic sense, Davy is able to set a rhythm for the game, impresses with his creativity and is strong and aggressive at the same time. He will be an absolute fixture in our game. “

Klaassen could make his competitive debut for Werder Bremen on August 18th when they face minnows Wormatia in the first round of the German Cup.
