The Premier League transfer window is in full swing!
With just two weeks to go until the window shuts and the season begins, things are about to enter the fast lane. Many sides have made good signings, some have made great ones, whilst there are even some who have done nothing at all! Some sides are stalling, others are roaring ahead, and there’s surely much more drama to come But we’ve ranked the Premier League clubs’ transfer windows so far:
20. Burnley
SIGNED: n/a
SOLD: Tom Anderson (free), Scott Arfield (free), Chris Long (free), Dean Marney (free)
They shocked the whole Premier League last season but for some reason Burnley have yet to build on their heroics. That’s very troubling considering they’re about to embark on a Europa League campaign with a squad that was just about strong enough to handle one competition.
19. Spurs

SOLD: n/a
Spurs have signed nor sold a soul this summer. Admittedly they didn’t need too much work done (unlike Burnley) but there were key areas whereas they could have used reinforcement. Standing still when everyone else is moving forward is incredibly damaging.
18. Cardiff
SIGNED: Josh Murphy (£11m), Bobby Reid (£10m), Greg Cunningham (£4m), Alex Smithies (£3m)
SOLD: Matty Kennedy (free), Greg Halford (free), Ben Wilson (free)
Cardiff have made some decent signings as they prepare for their first season back in the Premier League, but they are just decent. Signing Championship players to compete in the Premier League is a risky gambit.
17. Bournemouth
SIGNED: Diego Rico (£10.7m), David Brooks (£10m)
SOLD: Benik Afobe (£10m), Lewis Grabban (£5m), Max Gradel (£2m), Adam Federici (£m), Ryan Alsopp (free)
Bournemouth have added a solid defender in Diego Rico and David Brooks should develop nicely under Eddie Howe, but the Cherries have sold two strikers so far this summer and have signed no replacements. Goals aren’t everything, but they are important.
16. Newcastle
SIGNED: Mikel Merino (£6m), Martin Dubravka (£4m), Fabian Schar (£3m), Sung-yong Ki (free)
SOLD: Mikel Merino (£10m), Chancel Mbemba (£7m), Stuart Findlay (free), Massadio Haidara (free), Jesus Gamez (free)
Rafa Benitez continues to strengthen his defensive unit with three sensible signings. The only issue here is that Newcastle still haven’t signed that consistent goalscoring presence which even a Rafa Benitez side needs.
15. Crystal Palace
SIGNED: Vicente Guaita (free)
SOLD: Damien Delaney (free), Yohan Cabaye (free), Cheong-yong Lee (free), Bakary Sako (free), Diego Cavalieri (free)
Palace’s biggest concern this window will be keeping hold of star man Wilfried Zaha. If they can manage that then they only need one or two more players (a midfielder to replace Cabaye would help) as Vicente Guaita should be a nice upgrade on Wayne Hennessey.
13. Watford
SIGNED: Gerard Deulofeu (£11.5m), Ben Foster (£4m), Ken Sema (£1.8m), Adam Masina (£3.5m), Marc Navarro (£3m), Ben Wilmot (undisclosed)
SOLD: Richarlison (£40m), Nordin Amrabat (£4m), Mauro Zarate (£2m), Costel Pantilimon (£2m)
Watford have been busy boys in the summer, and Gerard Deulofeu is a potentially brilliant pick-up if Javi Gracia can get him to finally play up to his potential. They lost a lot of X-factor with Richarlison’s departure though.
14. Manchester United
SIGNED: Fred (£52m), Diogo Dalot (£19.3m), Lee Grant (£1.5m)
SOLD: Daley Blind (£14.1m), Sam Johnstone (£6.5m), Michael Carrick (retirement)
United have made three very good signings so far. The problem is they need to make three more if they want to truly compete as their squad had very clear holes in it. A right-winger, left-back and centre-back are still musts and time is running out!
12. Chelsea
SIGNED: Jorginho (£51.3m), Rob Green (free)
SOLD: Jeremie Poga (£3.6m), Jonathan Panzo (£2.7m), Matej Delac (free)
Chelsea appear to be constantly on the verge of losing their star players with Eden Hazard, Willian and N’Golo Kanté all the subject of transfer attention from bigger clubs, but as yet the Blues haven’t sold anyone major and Jorginho is as perfect a signing as you’ll see.
11. Manchester City
SIGNED: Riyad Mahrez (£60m), Philippe Sandler (£2.25m)
SOLD: Angus Gunn (£13.5m), Pablo Maffeo (€10m), Angelino (€5m), Olarenwaju Kayode (£2.6m), Yaya Touré (free)
The Champions needed more attacking depth and they got it with Riyad Mahrez. They paid over the odds but the Algerian is a truly special talent. They are desperate for a new holding midfielder, though. They lost out on their two targets there, but have to act fast because without a new pivot, their attempt to retain the title take a serious hit.
10. Southampton
SIGNED: Jannik Vestergaard (£18m), Mohamed Elyounoussi (£16m), Angus Gunn (£13.5m), Stuart Armstrong (£7m)
SOLD: Dusan Tadic (£11.4m), Florin Gardos (free), Jeremy Pied (free), Stuart Taylor (free)
Saints are one of many clubs who are still crying out for a consistent goalscorer to lead the line, but they have signed very well besides that. They’ve offset the loss of Tadic with the talented Elyounoussi; and Vestergaard will finally help them move past Virgil Van Dijk.
9. Everton
SIGNED: Richarlison (£40m)
SOLD: Ramiro Funes Mori (€10m), Joel Robles (free), Conor Grant (free), Wayne Rooney (free)
You hesitate to use the cliché “missing piece of the jigsaw” but that looks like what Richarlison will be for Everton. Expensive? Sure. But he’s a muscular forward with terrific technique and instincts – exactly what they craved. Now they only need a centre-back and left-back and their squad will be looking very healthy indeed.
8. West Ham
SIGNED: Felipe Anderson (£36m), Issa Diop (£22m), Andriy Yarmolenko (£17.5m), Lukasz Fabianski (£7m), Fabian Balbuena (£6.5m), Jack Wilshere (free), Ryan Fredericks (free)
SOLD: Reece Burke (£1.5m), James Collins (free), Patrice Evra (free)
The Hammers have signed a lot of players and not all of them have been great (£17.5m on Yarmolenko looks like money wasted) but Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop and particularly Lukasz Fabianski should form part of a terrific spine for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
7. Leicester
SIGNED: James Maddison (£25m), Ricardo Pereira (£22.5m), Danny Ward (£12.5m), Jonny Evans (£3.5m)
SOLD: Riyad Mahrez (£60m), Ben Hamer (free), Robert Huth (free)
The Foxes knew they were going to cash in on Riyad Mahrez and made sure they would reinvest in their squad nicely. Four hyper-intelligent signings give Leicester strength in key areas of weakness and should allow them to progress.
6. Arsenal
SIGNED: Lucas Torreira (£26.4m), Bernd Leno (£19.2m), Sokratis (£14.8m), Matteo Guendouzi (£7m), Stephan Lichtsteiner (free)
SOLD: Jack Wilshere (free), Santi Cazorla (free), Per Mertesacker (retirement)
The Gunners are getting used to life after Wenger quite nicely! Whilst Sokratis and Leno are underwhelming signings, Guendouzi has enormous potential and Lucas Torreira is the player they’ve wanted and needed since 2009.
5. Huddersfield
SIGNED: Terence Kongolo (£17.5m), Adama Diakhaby (£8m), Ramadan Sobhi (£5.7m), Jonas Lossl (£2.3m), Florent Hadergjonaj (undisclosed), Juninho Bacuna (undisclosed), Erik Durm (undisclosed), Ben Hamer (free)

Huddersfield will look to establish themselves as a genuine Premier League force this season, and they’ve made several signings to help them accomplish that goal. Adama Diakhaby and Ramadan Sobhi are true attacking mavericks who, given the trust of David Wagner, should do very well this season.
4. Fulham

SOLD: David Button (4m), George Williams (free), Ryan Fredericks (free)
Fulham are a pass-heavy team, and so signing a player who just a year ago was being linked with Barcelona, is a monumental coup. Taking advantage of world football’s troubling disinterest in African playmakers, Fulham have snapped up a player who could transform their midfield. André Schurrle on loan is also a bit of transfer brilliance.
3. Brighton
SIGNED: Alireza Jahanbakhsh (£17m), Yves Bissouma (£15m), Bernardo (£9m), Florin Andone (£5.25m), David Button (£4m), Percy Tau (£2.8m), Leon Balogun (free), Jason Steele (free)

Brighton are playing some serious chess here. The south coast side are making elite moves here. Picking up useful players for cheap fees and taking risks on players like Alireza Jahanbaksh and Yves Bissouma who could be genuine exceptional.
2. Wolves

Jorge Mendes’ Wolves have been making the kind of moves you’d expect a side associated with the super agent. Wolves are building an incredibly competitive side. Rui Patricio for free (well, free for now), Joao Moutinho and Jonny are incredible snags.
1. Liverpool
SIGNED: Alisson (£65m), Naby Keita (£53m), Fabinho (£43m), Xherdan Shaqiri (£13.5m)
SOLD: Danny Ward (£12.5m), Emre Can (free), Jon Flanagan (free), Jordan Williams (free)
Liverpool were well off the pace in last season’s Premier League and one goalkeeping horrorshow away from glory in the Champions League. So Jurgen Klopp has tried to address both issues in an incredible window (so far). Alisson comes in at great expense but bringing great quality. Fabinho is almost exactly what they needed in terms of a holding midfielder, Xherdan Shaqiri is superb depth behind their great attack and Naby Keita could genuinely take the Premier League by storm – such is his combination of athleticism, skill and technique.
