Andre Silva joins Sevilla after difficult spell in Milan

Andrea Silva has put his tough spell with AC Milan on hold as he joins Sevilla on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old Portugal international joined the Rossoneri last July for €38 million, however, the striker only managed to net 10 times in 40 appearances across all competitions for the club, only two of which were in the league.

That’s 14 shy of the haul he managed for Porto the season before and, with Gonzalo Higuain arriving from Juventus, Milan have allowed him to depart the club for Sevilla, who have the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Los Hispalenses have spent a modest amount on new players over the summer. Silva will join other key signings including defensive midfielder Ibrahim Amadou, centre-back Joris Gnagnon and winger Aleix Vidal.

Silva, 22, will compete with Wissam Ben Yedder and Luis Muriel up front, he will be available to make his first appearance for the club against Rayo Vallecano on August 19.

AC Milan take on Real Madrid on Saturday evening in the Trofeo Santiago Bernabéu showpiece.
