Fulham complete loan signing of Atlético Madrid forward Luciano Vietto

Fulham have signed Atlético Madrid striker Luciano Vietto on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old Argentine forward temporarily moves to Craven Cottage with opportunities limited under Diego Simeone.

Vietto joins the newly promoted Premier League side, who are looking to cement their top-flight status under Slaviša Jokanović, and he can’t wait to get started.

“I’m very happy to come to the Club and sign. I’m very excited to get started with the team tomorrow,” he told the club’s official website.

“It’s an important change for me because this is my first experience here in England. I hope to do as well as possible.”

Vietto’s journey

A graduate of Estudiantes’ academy, which has also produced Juan Sebastian Veron and Martin Palermo, he’d spend time at Racing Club before starting his European journey with Villarreal where he’d bag 20 goals across 48 outings.

His performances attracted the attention of Atlético Madrid, who signed him in 2015, before loaning him out to Sevilla and then Valencia.

To date, he’s featured 38 times for Atleti registering 3 goals in the process, with 25 of those appearances coming in La Liga.

Fulham begin their Premier League campaign at home to Crystal Palace on August 11.
