Arsenal boss Unai Emery has revealed his captains ahead of the new season, suggesting he wants more leadership all over the pitch.
The Spaniard was looking to find someone to replace Per Mertesacker who retired at the end of last season and he has opted to go for a group of players to lead the team.
Laurent Koscielny will be the main captain but, due to injury, Emery requires others to step up and fill his shoes.
Arsenal start a new era this season following the departure long-serving Arsene Wenger, and Emery has recruited in areas he saw as key to making the Gunners more robust.
Lucas Torreira, a holding midfielder who signed from Sampdoria, and former Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis have been drafted into a side that struggled after new year last season. Midfield and defence were problematic areas for Arsenal, who conceded 51 times in the Premier League last season.

Torreira is thought to be especially important to providing stability for Arsenal in attack, but Emery insists having strong leaders will be vital to any success that the team achieves.
“The captain of this group is Laurent Koscielny, who is injured at the moment,” said the Arsenal manager.
“After Laurent, our other captains are Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka.
“I want leaders in the team, every player at every time to have the capacity to show leadership, but these are the five players who have a possibility to be the captain.”
The Gunners could not ask for a tougher start, facing champions Manchester City on the opening day of the season at the Emirates before travelling across London to face Chelsea a week later.
