Paul Pogba refuses to rule out Man Utd exit amid Barcelona interest

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has fuelled rumours over a potential exit amid reported Barcelona interest.

For one reason or another, Pogba, who joined United in 2016 from Juventus for a then-world record fee of £89m, is yet to truly set the Premier League alight with high-level performances lacking consistency.

Despite this, Pogba did help France win the 2018 World Cup and has been linked with a move away from the club, with Barcelona high on the list of potential suitors.

And while committing his immediate future to United, the Frenchman has added to rumours of a departure by insisting he is unsure what will happen.

“There was a lot of talk [in the summer], but it was just like that, I’m under contract in Manchester,” he told Sky Sport Deutschland.

“My future is currently in Manchester, I still have a contract, I’m playing there at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few months.”

The rumours have risen, in part, due to the reportedly poor relationship between Pogba and current United manager Jose Mourinho who has criticised the midfielder at times.

But Pogba has insisted the relationship between the pair is professional, adding: “We have a pure coach-player relationship, that’s right.”

Despite the doubts around his future, Pogba has given United fans his guarantee he will continue to give his all for the club no matter who is in charge.

He added: “One thing I can assure you: I will always give 100 per cent, no matter which coach I always give everything for United – I can not say more.”

So far in the Premier League this season, Pogba has scored twice as United have struggled, losing two of their opening four matches.

Pogba is currently part of the French squad embarking on their Uefa Nations League campaign, with the world champions drawing with Germany on Thursday night. Les Bleus next face the Netherlands on Sunday.

What Pogba said amid Juventus to Man Utd transfer saga

Unfortunately for United fans, Pogba’s recent comments on his future at Manchester United slightly mirror those he made while at Juventus in 2015.

With early reports linking him with a return to Manchester United, Pogba committed his immediate future to Juventus in September 2015, though admitting he was unsure about further down the line.

He said: “Why did I stay? Why not? It was not a certainty I would leave. I am at Juventus, I am only thinking about Juventus.

“I am at Juventus, but I do not know for how long. We will do this year and then see how things go.”

And in a separate interview, the Frenchman added: “At the moment I am happy [at Juventus]. When the season finishes, we will see what happens.”

Juventus, and United fans, will, of course, know what happened at the end of the season as he left for Old Trafford.
