Arsenal yet to receive any offers for Perez

Arsenal forward Lucas Perez looks set to stay at the Emirates after his agent admitted there has been no contact with potential buyers.

The Spaniard, who joined the Gunners in 2016, has not had a happy time in north London. Arsenal paid Deportivo over £17m to bring the player to the club but it is widely accepted that he has been a transfer flop.

Since signing, Perez has only made 11 Premier League appearances and was quickly loaned back to Deportivo last season.

Unai Emery may have been hoping to sell the player this summer but, as it stands, no club has made an offer and with time running out in this transfer window it remains to be seen whether the player will find a route out of the club.

It could be that Emery will give Perez an opportunity to prove himself after performing well in La Liga last season. The forward scored six goals in 32 appearances while in Spain yet he will face a stern test if he is to get more game time with Arsenal.

The Gunners haven’t added any attacking players this summer but with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang already at the club, it is hard to see where Perez fits in.

Lazio are one side reported to be interested yet the £7m asking price could be a stumbling block.

Speaking to CalcioMercato (via the Express), Perez’s agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle said he had received no offers for his client.

“For now, there is nothing – no contact,” he said.

“For now, [there is] only Arsenal.”

Serie A newcomers Frosinone have also expressed an interest in the 29-year-old but, again, the stumbling block could be the Gunners asking price with a loan move more likely.

Arsenal kick-off their Premier League campaign against Champions Manchester City on Sunday, August 12 before then facing London rivals Chelsea six days later.
