Bayern Munich have insisted that star striker, Robert Lewandowski, will not be leaving the club this summer, even for €150million.
Lewandowski has long-established himself as one of Europe’s best goalscorers, with his form for Bayern ever-consistent since his move to the club back in 2014 from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund.
Despite a poor showing in Poland’s disappointing World Cup campaign this summer in Russia, Lewandowski’s stock has never been higher and a move away from the club has repetitively been rumoured throughout the football community.
The player’s agent has spoken of the Lewandowski’s desire to leave which has kept clubs’ interest at a high.
However, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has insisted that the striker will not be leaving the German champions this summer.
“With Robert, we clearly want to send a signal to people within and outside the club: Bayern Munich are completely different to other clubs who get weak when certain sums come along,” he told TZ.
“We want to show that our door remains closed. We are completely satisfied with him, and, in his position, there are only a few players who are comparable.
“We have no interest in selling him and it does not matter if somebody offers €100 or €150 million. The top quality we have stays with us.”
Where could Robert Lewandowski go if Bayern back down?
A man of Lewandowski’s class would not be short of offers should he pursue his ambition to leave Bayern.
One club who should be able to afford the Polish striker is Real Madrid who now have a space free for a new star with the recent departure of world-class forward Cristiano Ronaldo to Italian side Juventus.
If a move to the Premier League was on the horizon, then surely only Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea could afford to bring him to their respective sides.
City will most likely be content with the attacking options at their disposal while United boss Mourinho already has a problem deciding on which attacking options to field each week.
Chelsea may be the likely option but only if they are forced to sell star man Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
As ever, the transfer window is one big merry-go-round.
