Bayern Munich rule out Ante Rebic move amid Man Utd links

Bayern Munich head coach Niko Kovac has officially ruled out a move for Eintracht Frankfurt and Croatia star Ante Rebic

Rebic had a fantastic summer with his national side as they managed to reach the final of the World Cup in Russia, where they eventually lost to fellow Europeans France 4-2.

The 24-year-old has also been linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United side this summer, with the Premier League club said to be impressed with his performances at the World Cup.

Bundesliga champions Bayern were the latest European giant to be linked with the talented winger. But new boss Kovac, who managed Rebic at Frankfurt, has come out and denied his side are ready to make a move for the player.

He told Sport Bild: “There is nothing between FC Bayern and Ante Rebic. He is a strong personality and a great player but [a transfer] makes no sense.

“It doesn’t make sense today, and it won’t tomorrow.”

How good is Rebic?

Rebic will always remember the summer of 2018 as Croatia shocked the world by reaching the World Cup final. En-route to Moscow, Rebic played six matches, scoring once – a lobbed effort against Argentina in the group stage.

For Frankfurt, Rebic has played 56 games in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists.

Last season, he scored six goals and assisted twice for Frankfurt, whilst also accumulating a shot accuracy of 71%.

His pass success rate was only 57% (completing 426 passes all season), however, after the World Cup he has had, Rebic’s confidence will surely only improve upon some of his weaker statistics.
