Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo wants his son to follow in his footsteps and become a professional footballer.
The eight-year-old will have massive shoes to fill if he wants to live up to the talent of his father, but Ronaldo Snr believes his son has the potential to pick up his mantle.
Ronaldo Jnr has already displayed some of his impressive skills whenever filmed on the pitch at the Bernabeu, as well as on his father’s social media accounts, showing he has the same desire and determination of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
And now Ronaldo Snr has opened up on his son’s passion and hunger for the beautiful game, revealing his desire to see Ronaldo Jnr make the grade.
“He’s very competitive. He’s like me as a child. He doesn’t like losing,” he told reporters (via Football Italia).
“He’ll become like me, I’m 100 percent sure of it. I’d like to teach him some things, but ultimately he will choose what to do and he’ll always have my support.
“But of course, I’d like him to become a player because I think he has a passion for it too.”
Ronaldo made his Juventus debut at the weekend, playing the full 90 minutes as the Old Lady edged past Chievo 3-2 at the Marcantonio Bentegodi, courtesy of a last-minute Federico Bernardeschi goal.
Despite firing a blank on the opening match of the season, Ronaldo has high hopes for the campaign, revealing his aspirations of winning the Champions League trophy while in Turin.
He continued: “I want to win the Champions League with Juventus.
“We’ll focus on that, with my teammates, but without obsessing over it. We’ll go step by step and then we’ll see: if it’s this year, next year or the year after that.
“The objective for the club is to win the League, Coppa Italia and, of course. do our best in the Champions League.”
Portugal’s record goalscorer will have the chance to open his account when the Serie A champions lock horns with Lazio this Saturday.
