Andreas Pereira is helping new signing Fred settle in at Manchester United ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League season.
Fred, 25, along with Lee Grant and Diogo Dalot are the only players to have joined the club during an underwhelming transfer window for the Red Devils.
The Brazil international joined United from Shakhtar Donetsk, becoming the 17th South American and the sixth Brazilia to play for the club.
However, Fred, will not be the only Brazilian in United’s first team this campaign. Andreas Pereira, who spent last season on loan with Valencia in La Liga is set to play a key role in United’s first team after an impressive spell in Spain, and he is helping his compatriot get used to life in Manchester.
“He’s from the same country so I help him,” Pereira told ManUtd.com. “I try to do my best to help him and all of his family that have arrived. I’ve tried to help him feel at home so he can play better and better and he feels comfortable.
“He’s a very good guy. He’s settling in very well – he’s trying to speak English, he’s trying to adapt to his team-mates, so he’s doing very well.”
Pereria and Fred both started against Leicester City at Old Trafford ahead of other regulars in the side who were nursing injuries.
Both players played well in United’s opener, helping their side to win 2-1 on the night. The win continued manager Jose Mourinho’s amazing run of 18 opening day matches without defeat despite a spirited effort from Leicester. Pereria and Fred will be pleased with their efforts but they both finished the match with yellow cards against the Foxes.
