Jose Mourinho denies claims Paul Pogba is unhappy at Man Utd

Manchester United manger Jose Mourinho insisted that Paul Pogba is happy at Old Trafford ahead of Friday’s game with Leicester City.

Despite the fact that Pogba’s performance in the Premier League had improved last season from his efforts in the 2016-17 season, the Frenchman still had to endure his fair share of criticism from the press and was even dropped by Mourinho on several occasions.

This has led to prevailing rumours of a rift opening up between Pogba and his boss, with reports now linking Pogba with a move to Barcelona.

Mourinho, however, believes the the recently crowned World Cup champion is content at Old Trafford.

“My perception, he arrived Monday, happy, proud, a desire to work,” Mourinho told a press conference (via Goal).

“He worked amazingly well Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. He’s one of the players that I have to speak to, to see how physically and mentally he feels.

“But it’s the same conversation as with [Ashley] Young, [Marouane] Fellaini, [Jesse] Lingard, it’s the same.

“If they feel they can help us [against Leicester] – 20 minutes, 10 minutes, half an hour. We don’t have many solutions and want to go with everything we have.

“I see [Pogba] very well but we need words with that small group to see if they can give us a hand. We have to try and get the best out of every player.”

Pogba had an extended break from Manchester United duties following his excellent performance at the World Cup in Russia which was topped off with a goal in the final against Croatia, so it remains to be seen if the Frenchman can continue with his fine form at the beginning of this campaign.

Man Utd beat Leicester 2-1 last night in the Premier League’s opening fixture with Pogba grabbing an early penalty and Luke Shaw sealing the win late on.
