Sevilla sporting director Joaquin Caparros says Steven Nzonzi wants to leave the club but he will only do so if an “important offer” arrives.
The 29-year-old French midfielder joined the Andalusian outfit from Stoke City in 2015 and currently has two years remaining on his present contract.
He’s recently been linked with a number of clubs with Serie A giants AS Roma the latest touted but unless they match Sevilla’s €38m (£34m) valuation he’ll be staying put.
“It’s true that Nzonzi wants to leave, but he still has two years left on his contract with us,” he told Cadena Ser (via Football Italia).
“He is on the market and if he wants to go, he must bring an important offer. Otherwise, he’ll remain here for another two years and he will respect his contract.”
Nzonzi’s future
In a recent interview with Canal Football Club, the former Blackburn Rovers player expressed his regret in not completing a move to hometown club Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
Since becoming a Sevilla player he’s become integral to the club’s fortunes, helping them win a Europa League title in 2016.
To date, he’s featured across 136 matches in all competitions registering eight goals and seven assists.
After a string of noteworthy performances France manager Didier Deschamps finally called him up for international duty, with Nzonzi making his debut against Wales in November 2017.
He has earned eight more caps since and completing the full 90 minutes twice whilst collecting a World Cup winners medal in the process.
