Paul Pogba’s agent blasts ex-Man Utd midfielder Paul Scholes on Twitter

Mino Raiola has launched a social media attack on Paul Scholes in response to the former Manchester United midfielder’s latest criticism of Paul Pogba.

Raiola, the agent of Pogba, blasted Scholes on Twitter for his comments about Pogba’s display in United’s 3-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.

In his role as a pundit after the game, Scholes said: “There’s a lack of leaders in the team. We thought Paul Pogba might be the ideal candidate to be that leader but he wasn’t there today. He had another really poor game. He’s so inconsistent.” (Via the Independent.)

“Paul Pogba’s playing the ball out of play, he’s overhitting passes, he’s hitting passes short, he’s getting caught in possession,” Scholes added.

Raiola responded by tweeting: “Some people need to talk for fear of being forgotten. Paul Scholes wouldn’t recognize a leader if he was in front of Sir Winston Churchill.”

Another tweet said: “Paul Scholes should become sports director and advise Woodward to sell Pogba. Would be sleepless nights to find Pogba a new club.”

Pogba has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer but Jose Mourinho has handed the Frenchman the captain’s armband in each of United’s two opening Premier League fixtures.

Scholes’ former United and England teammate Gary Neville has weighed in on the feud, suggesting Pogba tells his agent to stop stoking the fire.

“Let’s hope @paulpogba leads his agent and shuts him up!,” Neville tweeted.

Ex-United assistant manager Mike Phelan responded directly to one of Raiola’s tweets, appearing to take the side of Scholes.

He tweeted: “There was a time when a player’s ability, consistency, attitude, record and application generated transfer activity.”

United’s season got off to a winning start with a victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford.

But Sunday’s defeat at Brighton means Mourinho’s men are already trailing the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham, who have all won both of their league matches so far.

United face Spurs next at Old Trafford on Bank Holiday Monday.
