Sadio Mane explains why he copies his teammates’ celebrations

Sadio Mane has opened up about why he often mimics the celebration of his teammates after they score a Liverpool goal. 

The Senegalese winger, who has 55 caps for his country, has been in impressive form in Liverpool’s opening games of the domestic season, scoring three times already in the league.

Mane scored a brace against West Ham at home on the opening weekend of the season and added another to his tally at Selhurst Park to down a plucky Palace side in added-time.

But while his celebrations were run-of-the-mill, arm held aloft affairs in those games, the player has been noted to do something altogether more fascinating when his teammates score.

Spotted last season, and continuing this, Mane often copies the moves of fellow Reds when they celebrate.

But on the topic, Mane suggested the truth was slightly different than it appeared.

“The fans deserve to know the truth,” he said in an interview with Copa90 . “Firmino copies me, not me copying him!

“The kick was me. We try it in training. He scored and I was behind him, and he did it.

“The dance with Philippe and Bobby was mine too!”

Mane has scored an impressive 36 goals in 75 matches for Liverpool in all competitions, since his £34m move from Southampton to Merseyside.

Liverpool next take on Brighton on Saturday at Anfield where they have the chance to make it three wins from three so far.
