Arsenal manager Unai Emery has praised Aaron Ramsey’s performance during their victory against West Ham, stating he “worked for 90 minutes” and played with a “very high personality.”
Ramsey started the game after being dropped for the previous defeat at Chelsea, before which the manager told the player (via Guardian) he should be “focused only on training and only on the match, you show us the capacity to help the team.”
Speaking of his performance against the Hammers, Emery said of Ramsey: “He worked for 90 minutes. He worked each moment, which the team needs. His spirit is very important for us, [as is] his experience but also with other players, he’s someone who they can give the ball to in a difficult moment because he played with a very high personality.” (via Arsenal.com)
The Welsh international, who has entered the final year of his contract with the London club, was offered a new contract in the summer, but it is reported (via bbcsport) that “he is seeking a significant increase in wages on his current deal.”
Since joining The Gunners from Cardiff City (who Arsenal play next Sunday), the 27-year-old has made 332 appearances and scored 58 goals. Ramsey has garnered a reputation as a goalscoring midfielder in recent years and, last season, the Welsh international scored seven goals and registered eight assists in 24 league appearances.
