Uruguay and France will be looking to book the first place in the World Cup semi-finals on Friday as the tournament nears its end.

France beat Lionel Messi and Argentina 4-3 to reach the quarter-finals, with Kylian Mbappe starring, while Uruguay dumped out Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal with a 2-1 win in the last-16.

Ahead of what should be an interesting tie, have a look at our three favourite Uruguay vs France tips below.

Uruguay vs France Tip 1: Under 2.5 goals YES @ 19/40

Pepe’s equaliser in the last-16 for Portugal was the first goal Uruguay had conceded at this World Cup, ending a run of 597 minutes in which their goal had not been breached.

Despite France putting four past Argentina in the last round, Les Bleus have struggled against better set-up defences (and Uruguay’s is undoubtedly the best), creating just six big chances in their four games – the fewest of the teams left in the World Cup.

Adding to that, Edinson Cavani is a doubt for Uruguay having limped off during their win over Portugal, and La Celeste will miss the Paris Saint-Germain’s partnership with Luis Suarez should he fail to recover in time.

Uruguay vs France Tip 2: Kylian Mbappe to score anytime @ 11/5

Putting Argentina to the sword with a brilliant display, Mbappe’s brace and contribution for Antoine Griezmann’s penalty showed Les Bleus are growing as a team with the teenager one of the best.

With three goals so far, the 19-year-old has the best chance conversion rate among France’s 23-man squad with 60% (having scored with three of his five shots on goal).

Mbappe’s accuracy is only bettered in Friday’s tie by Uruguay’s Jose Giminez, whose sole goal has come from his only shot on target. And while Uruguay’s defence will be tough, Mbappe will trust himself to be able to make a difference.

Uruguay vs France Tip 3: Half-time France/Full-time France @ 11/5

While Uruguay do have the sternest defence at the World Cup, France finally found their stride against Argentina and will be going into the match with confidence and an array of attacking talent.

Using the pace and skill of their attacking line and Olivier Giroud providing a tough test for Gimenez and Diego Godin, France can trouble Uruguay and break down their resolute defence early on.

Then the impetus will be on Uruguay to attack, meaning France can punish on the counter-attack like they did Argentina, sending Suarez and Co. out to set up a tasty semi-final tie against either Brazil or Belgium.
