Real Madrid have moved swiftly to refute claims the club have lodged a world-record bid for PSG starlet Kylian Mbappe, releasing an official statement to deny the rumours.
The news broke in the early hours of Wednesday morning after reputable French journalist Baptiste Ripart – who announced Antoine Griezmann’s contract renewal at Atletico Madrid – reported that Los Blancos had reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 giants for the transfer of Mbappe to the Bernabeu.

However, in the space of a couple of days the European champions have once again had to deny false allegations of tabling an offer for a Parisian player.
On Monday, the club had to deny reports that a €310m bid for Neymar had been made, after Spanish broadcasters Television Espanola outlined details of the offer.
And once more the club have been eager to deny the claims, releasing a statement on their official website: “Given the information published in the last few hours regarding an alleged agreement between Real Madrid C.F. and PSG for the player Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid would like to state that it is completely false.
“Real Madrid has not made any offer to PSG or the player and condemns the spreading of this type of information that has not been proven by the parties concerned.”
It had been reported that president Florentino Perez would be keen to recruit a marquee signing should Cristiano Ronaldo depart the club, as a report in AS further revealed PSG’s potential problems with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules which could lead to possible sales, while Ronaldo is a reported interest of Juventus.
New manager Julen Lopetegui will be looking to bolster his attacking options after taking the reigns in the Spanish capital following the shock departure of Zinedine Zidane.
Mbappe is currently in Russia preparing for France’s quarter-final clash with Uruguay on Friday at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium with the 19-year-old looking to win the World Cup with his homeland.
