Bellerin: Arsenal will be more organised under Emery

Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin believes his side will be more organised under Unai Emery than they were during Arsene Wenger’s tenure.

Former Paris Saint-Germain boss Emery recently took over as Arsenal’s new head coach following Wenger calling time on his 22-year association with the Gunners.

The Gunners have already shown some promising signs of growth in pre-season under Emery and boosted their squad by bringing in the likes of Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira and Stephan Lichtsteiner.

And Bellerin, who was handed the number 2 jersey this summer, is looking forward to the positive changes Emery will bring.

“It has been very different for everyone. Mr Wenger had been at the club 22 years,” he told the Daily Mail of his new head coach.

“When a new coach comes in, lots of things change, not just on the pitch but the backroom staff is different. A lot of people that weren’t here before are now here. Every change is always for the better.

“They had a lot experts looking for a coach and if they think Unai Emery is the one, he will be. He has great experience in Spain, he has been at the top level and even with teams that have not had the best players, he has made them competitive.

“The training has been way different. We work on different things to how we did with the boss (Wenger). Both coaches have philosophies that are different.

“Arsene Wenger was a manager that led a lot of inspiration from the players. He gave you a lot of freedom.

“Unai Emery is a bit more tactical. We are going to be more organised on the pitch and they are different philosophies that have worked for them both.

“We are getting used to it, working really hard, everyone is really excited.”

Arsenal kick off their Premier League campaign in the hardest way, taking on defending champions Manchester City on August 12.

Bellerin’s Arsenal career so far

A member of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, Bellerin made his move to Arsenal in 2011 to join their youth system.

The Spaniard would make his first-team debut in September 2013, in a League Cup third round game, but was shortly sent out on a brief loan spell to Watford where he made eight appearances.

The following season saw him become a more regular feature in the Arsenal team, making 162 appearances in total across all competitions while also winning two FA Cups and the Community Shield twice.
