Jurgen Klopp: He can play much better | Squawka Football

Mohamed Salah can improve upon his performances for Liverpool so far this season, according to Jurgen Klopp.

In terms of tangible contributions, the Egyptian forward has started the season brightly, notching one goal and one assist in two games.

There had been concerns Salah would not be able to match his goalscoring efforts last season, where he scored a record 32 goals in 36 games in the Premier League.

And Salah, who won the Golden Boot last season, won a controversial penalty for his side against Crystal Palace, going down under a challenge from Sakho which divided opinion in the stadium and on social media. He was also being judged to have been felled by a challenge by Aaron Wan-Bissaka, which earned the 20-year-old a red card.

Despite having a hand in both goals, Klopp says he expects more from his star charge.

“There’s nothing to say about individual performances, but Mo Salah can play much better, that’s obvious,” Klopp told reporters, according to Goal.

“Yet he was decisively involved in both goals, that’s two assists pretty much, so I am fine with that.

“We can play much better as a team, that means immediately he is involved more, and that’s all good.”

Klopp continued: “But it was not a brilliant football game from us. We won it because we scored in two very decisive moments. That’s good, a big step for us. Everyone who watches us knows if we are not brilliant we usually lose. Today we were not brilliant but we still won. That was nice!”

The win continued Liverpool’s 100% record in the league after two games, but the clean sheet means they are the only team in the division yet to concede this season.

Liverpool next take on Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday at Anfield.
