Richarlison has the potential to be important for Brazil, says Rivaldo

Everton forward Richarlison has the potential to be a key player for the Brazilian national team according to legend Rivaldo.

Richarlison, 21, has had a good start for the Toffees – albeit slightly dampened by his red card against Bournemouth in Everton’s 2-2 draw with the south coast side – scoring three goals in as many matches since his £50 million transfer from Premier League rivals Watford.

The former Hornet received his first call-up to the Brazil senior team by national boss Tite for their  friendly fixtures against the United States and El Salvador.

Richarlison will look to build upon his 10 caps at Brazil U20 level and force his way into the Brazilian line-up. Former Barcelona and Brazil star Rivaldo believes the talented youngster has the ability to become one of the country’s more important players in the years to come.

Speaking to reporters (via Everton’s official club website) Rivaldo spoke of his admiration for Richarlison and suggested – despite Everton spending big to bring the star to Goodison Park – he should turn out to be worth every penny.

“Richarlison is producing solid performances in the Premier League.

“He is clearly a good player, with great potential that could be really important for Brazil soon.

“Everton spent a good amount of money on his signing. Nowadays is hard to know if a player really deserves the money spent on him because the transfer values are really high.

“But I believe he will justify the investment at Everton. He is making things happen.”

Everton’s next Premier League fixture is at home to struggling West Ham United on September 16, though Richarlison will be serving the final game of his three-match ban.
