10 done deals you might have missed this week

While the World Cup is currently in full swing, football clubs are busy trying to enhance their squads ahead of the upcoming season.

July 1st brought the day many of this summer’s moves were made official and with clubs returning to their pre-season training more deals are being made every day.

Some big moves have gone through already with Arsenal signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund and Wayne Rooney joining D.C. United.

But what of those transfers that may have slipped under the radar? Here are 10 done deals you might have missed this week.

1. Lee Grant

From: Stoke City

To: Manchester United

Fee: Undisclosed

With the deal announced just as England were lining up to face Colombia at the World Cup, Manchester United’s signing of Lee Grant will not have got the attention it should have.

The former Stoke City man will not be expected to push for a place as United’s number one, given the ability of David de Gea, but may challenge Sergio Romero as back-up.

2. Adam Federici

From: Bournemouth

To: Stoke City

Fee: Undisclosed

Announced shortly before Grant’s transfer to United, Adam Federici left Bournemouth for Championship side Stoke City for an undisclosed fee.

In three years on the south coast, Federici played just 17 times having been the third choice goalkeeper at times and dealing with injury problems.

3. Yohan Cabaye

From: Crystal Palace

To: Al-Nasr

Fee: Free

With his contract up on July 1, Yohan Cabaye was allowed to leave Crystal Palace for Al-Nasr in the United Arab Emirates.

Having joined on a three-year deal from Paris Saint-Germain in 2015, Cabaye would play 109 times for the Eagles across all competitions scoring 10 goals and recording six assists.

4. David Brooks

From: Sheffield United

To: Bournemouth

Fee: £10m

Bournemouth’s first signing of the summer, David Brooks joined on July 1 from Sheffield United after the Cherries fought off reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

The 20-year-old played 37 times for Sheffield United and was part of England’s winning squad at last year’s Toulon Tournament, scoring in the final, before switching allegiance and represented Wales at senior level.

5. Zakaria Bakkali

From: Valencia

To: Anderlecht

Fee: Undisclosed

Once tipped as a hot prospect in football, Zakaria Bakkali joined Anderlecht for an undisclosed fee after a mediocre spell with Valencia.

The Belgian played 40 times for Valencia in a three-year spell, scoring three goals and assisting five.

6. Gabi

From: Atletico Madrid

To: Al-Sadd

Fee: Free

Bowing out from Atletico Madrid on a high, former captain Gabi has left the Europa League winners for Qatari side Al-Sadd on a free transfer.

Gabi spent seven years with Atletico, playing 413 times and winning La Liga once, the Copa del Rey once and two Europa Leagues.

7. Ibrahim Amadou

From: Lille

To: Sevilla

Fee: £13.2m

With Sevilla looking to improve on their seventh-placed finish last season, midfielder Ibrahim Amadou has been brought in on a four-year contract.

Amadou spent three seasons at Lille, playing 102 games and was made captain in his final year in France as the club avoided relegation.

8. Felix Passlack

From: Borussia Dortmund

To: Norwich City

Fee: Loan

While all eyes may have been on one defender leaving Dortmund for England in Sokratis, full-back Felix Passlack joined Norwich City on a season-long loan.

Coming through the ranks at Dortmund, the 20-year-old has made 21 appearances for the first team but spent last season out on loan with Hoffenheim.

9. Lautaro Martinez

From: Racing Club

To: Inter Milan

Fee: £20.3m

Despite having the likes of Mauro Icardi up front, Inter Milan are preparing for their Champions League conquest by signing Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez.

Martinez bagged 13 goals in 20 appearances in the Argentinian Primera Division last season and has scored a total of 29 goals for the club since making his debut in 2015.

10. Yuri Berchiche

From: Paris Saint-Germain

To: Athletic Bilbao

Fee: £11.5m

After just one season in Paris, Yuri Berchiche left Ligue 1 champions PSG for Athletic Bilbao after new manager Thomas Tuchel deemed him dispensable.

Berchiche signed for PSG from Bilbao’s rivals Real Sociedad and was favoured as the starting left-back under Unai Emery before his departure to Arsenal, playing 32 times in all competitions.
