Felipe Anderson could use West Ham to earn move to a “bigger” club, says Rivaldo

Brazil legend Rivaldo believes West Ham’s club record signing Felipe Anderson may be using the Hammers as a stepping stone before moving onto a bigger English club.

Anderson arrived at the club from Lazio for a reported £36m this summer and has started all four of their Premier League matches so far this season.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are, however, the only side in the league yet to have registered a single point.

Brazilian legend Rivaldo – who recently revealed that he thinks Everton’s Richarlison will be the next big player for Brazil – believes that Anderson could be looking to move onto a more successful club in the future.

“He is a nice player, capable of adapting to English football. Yes, he will face some difficulties such as the physical demands of the league,” he told the Daily Star.

“But when you’re talented and professional you could prove your value and I believe he will succeed.

“West Ham is not a top team in England but is a reasonable club where he can improve, and show his quality as a player in order to make another jump in the future, perhaps to a bigger English club.”

What must change at West Ham?

Much was expected of West Ham this season after spending around £100m in the summer transfer window.

But four consecutive defeats to start the season have already lead to doubts over the future of former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who was appointed in May.

Anderson has looked bright at times, but it seems Pellegrini is still working out his best XI and the best ways to use the Brazilian and the other attacking players at his disposal.

The manner of their most recent defeat, a 1-0 loss at home to Wolves, would have worried supporters, with many of West Ham’s players criticised for a lack of effort.
