“Soon you’ll be begging him to stop” – Bernardeschi backs Ronaldo to break Juventus duck

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo will find his scoring touch for the club, leaving the rest of Serie A ‘begging him to stop’, according to teammate Federico Bernardeschi.

Ronaldo joined the Old Lady in the summer transfer window for a reported £100 million, ending a nine-year spell with Real Madrid which saw him become Los Blancos’ most prolific goalscorer of all time.

The Portuguese international is yet to open his account for Juventus, but Bernardeschi isn’t worried about that and has hailed the influence Ronaldo has had on the club.

He told Corriere di Torino (via Juvefc): “Cristiano? I now have the pleasure of training with him every day, and for a young player like me, that is a treasure.

“I try to learn from him as much as I can. He is an added value. A perfectionist. A normal person off the field and a very positive one in the group.

“Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t scored yet? Soon you’ll be begging him to stop!”

Despite not scoring, Ronaldo has still had plenty of influence in the Juventus attack, registering an assist in his first three games, and, with him already firing 23 shots on goal, it is only a matter of time before he gets himself on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Juventus have still started the new season in fine form and sit top of the Serie A table with three wins from three.

And Bernardeschi, who has 14 caps for Italy, has hailed the Turin club as one of the best five in the world, insisting he is fully committed to the Italian champions.

He added: “Would I go to play abroad in the future? I don’t think so, it’s not something that’s really not on my mind. I’m quite happy at Juventus and I want to continue at Juventus.

“Juventus is one of the best five clubs in the world, so if you don’t give your best every single day then you are unconsciously spoiling yourself. Learning how to prepare yourself to win is sometimes more important than doing it.”

Juventus’ next game after the international break is at home to Sassuolo, having won all three of their opening Serie A matches.
