N’Golo Kanté may be one of the nicest guys in football but he is also a cheat, according to some of his teammates.
The French midfielder helped Les Blues win the 2018 World Cup in Russia this summer as Didier Deschamps side strolled to success in the final, beating Croatia 4-2.
Kanté was one of the heroes of the competition and was hailed for his humble attitude following the victory. When his team-mates were all celebrating with the Cup the diminutive midfielder was too shy to ask for his turn with the coveted trophy and had to get compatriot Steven N’Zonzi to ask on his behalf.
Fast forward to France’s homecoming celebrations following the UEFA Nations League victory vs the Netherlands on Sunday, and Kanté became the centre of attention – whether he wanted to or not.
The midfielder’s performances during the World Cup saw a song created for him and, during the post-match party, the entire Stade de France joined in to serenade him.
It's official; everyone loves N'Golo Kanté.

The lyrics to the song are as follows:
N’Golo Kanté // He’s little // He’s sweet // He stopped Leo Messi // But we all know he’s a cheat // N’Golo Kanté
Il est petit, il est gentil, il a stoppé Leo Messi. Mais on sait tous que c’est un tricheur N’golo Kante
He’s little, he’s sweet/nice, he stopped Leo Messi. But we all know he’s a cheater N’golo Kante

So, despite Kanté’s nice guy demeanour, there seems to be an altogether more crafty alter ego. According to Paul Pogba, his midfield partner is a cheat when it comes to playing cards – an accusation that the Chelsea man denies – hence the final line of the now-famous song.
Speaking to reporters about the last verse, Kanté said:
“I’m not a cheat (at card games)! I am a competitor and those that lose just like to give others a bad rap.”
“The song spread during the World Cup. I think it will be an unforgettable moment for me. It was very nice.”

Kanté’s compatriots adopted the song following the World Cup win against Croatia, but it is the latest rendition inside the Stade de France that shows just how much he is appreciated by the entire country, let alone his teammates.
The Frenchman has swiftly become one of the best midfielders in the world and was more than deserving of such a spectacle, card cheat or not.
