FIFPro confirm 55-man shortlist for 2018 World XI

Around 25,000 footballers have cast their vote in the FIFPro World XI voting and the names of the nominees have been announced. 

A total of 55 players have been nominated, with five goalkeepers, 20 defenders, 15 midfielders and 15 forwards all shortlisted.

The World XI will consist of one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three attackers who were deemed to be the best in their position during the 2017-2018 season and received the most votes.

The team is to be unveiled by FIFA and FIFPro during the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in London on Monday, September 24th
