Jonny joins Wolves on loan immediately after Atletico Madrid move

Wolves have completed the signing of Atletico Madrid full-back Jonathan Castro Otto on a season-long loan.

Otto, 24, joined the Europa League champions, Atleti, from boyhood club Celta Vigo this summer, but he has immediately been loaned out to newly-promoted Wolves, becoming manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s second signing this week.

The Spanish full-back penned a six-year contract at the Metropolitano Stadium but he will now be plying his trade in the English Premier League for the forthcoming campaign – Los Colchoneros announced the details of Otto’s transfer to the Spanish club on their official website.

A versatile defender, the Spain U21 international can function on either flank as a full-back, and will bring some much-needed competition for the wing-back positions at the Molineux.

Wolves previously secured the services of experienced Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho on Tuesday from Monaco on a two-year deal for a fee worth £5m.

Espirito Santo has already made some important signings this summer, notably recruiting Portuguese shot-stopper Rui Patricio and Benfica striker Raul Jimenez on loan.

Otto played over 200 matches for Celta across all competitions since breaking through the academy in 2012; he started 36 La Liga matches last campaign, scoring two goals and registering one assist.
