Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed his ‘love’ for Paris Saint-Germain and France striker Kylian Mbappe.
Despite being just 19 years old, Mbappe has already enjoyed an immensely successful career, scoring 57 goals in 120 club appearances and bagging nine goals in 26 caps for France.
In the process, Mbappe has also won two Ligue 1 titles and played a key role in Les Bleus’ World Cup win in Russia this summer.
Mbappe scored in PSG’s 3-2 Champions League defeat to Klopp’s Liverpool on Tuesday night and, speaking to RMC Sport (via ITV Sport’s Instagram page), the German manager hasn’t held back in his praise for the young French forward.
“I love him,” Klopp said. “I saw videos of him when he was 17 and he destroyed defensive lines as he is doing now.
“He’s an outstanding player, that’s clear, but he can deliver, deliver and deliver.
“What a player, what a player.”
Despite his side’s win over the French champions, in which Roberto Firmino bagged a stoppage-time winner, Klopp still thinks PSG are among the favourites for this season’s Champions League.
Speaking before the two side’s locked horns, he said: “PSG are one of the favourites for the competition. I don’t want to play mind games, this side is built for winning the Champions League.”
Aside from their impressive Champions League result on Tuesday, Liverpool have also made a perfect start to their Premier League campaign, winning all five of their games so far.
Next up for the Reds is a home tie against Southampton, who currently sit in 13th place, on Saturday.
