Neymar expects Liverpool to miss out on Champions League qualification spots

Neymar has said he expects Liverpool to miss out on a top-four place come the end of the Premier League season.

The Brazilian, whose Paris Saint-Germain side will face Liverpool in the Champions League after both sides were drawn together in Group C, instead said Manchester City would win the title, and that Manchester United, Chelsea and Spurs will fill the remaining slots respectively.

Liverpool have finished the last two seasons in fourth place, though before that they finished in the top four just once over seven seasons.

After last year’s final appearance in the Champions League, and after having spent over £300m on new recruits over the last two seasons, Liverpool have a squad capable of running Man City close for this season’s Premier League title.

But according to the Daily Express, when asked who he thinks will win the Premier League, Neymar replied: “Who will win it? Woah that’s difficult.

“It’s very hard, very difficult, but Manchester City will win it.

“Second will be United, third is Chelsea. Fourth is Tottenham.”

Liverpool currently sit top of the league after four games played, having won all four, giving them the maximum 12 points. Chelsea and Watford, in second and third respectively, are also on 12 points, while City, on 10, are in fourth.

In four games in the league for the Parisiens, Neymar has already struck four goals and assisted once. He has also averaged three dribbles per game.

Neymar’s PSG, who are top with 12 points after four games, take on Caen at home in Ligue 1 on September 14.
