Aubameyang can emulate Henry at Arsenal, says Keown

Arsenal great Martin Keown has paid record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the ultimate compliment by likening him to club legend Thierry Henry.

The 29-year-old Gabonese striker ended a four-and-a-half year association with Borussia Dortmund by joining the Londoners for a club record £55.5m in January.

He’s settled well into life in north London and is among the first names on Gunners boss Unai Emery’s team sheet with his latest performance, against Ukrainian outfit Vorskla in the Europa League, giving Keown flashbacks.

“What I liked about this one was is that it reminded me of Henry, and that’s a massive compliment,” he told BT Sport.

“The swagger he had there, the bit of confidence, and then the shot to match was really a good effort. Maybe now he will start to believe in himself a bit more.”

Aubameyang’s season so far

The former BVB marksman registered 10 goals across 14 appearances, all of which came in the league, for the Gunners last season making him the fastest player to reach 10 Premier League goals for Arsenal.

He’s picked up from where he left off. To date the versatile forward has bagged three goals across six outings in all competitions. However, just one of those strikes have come in the Premier League, and that was at Cardiff City when Emery’s men ran out narrow 3-2 winners.

Aubameyang will be looking to add to that tally on Sunday when Arsenal take on Everton at the Emirates, looking for a fourth league win in a row.
