Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar as the “the Kim Kardashian” of football, according to former Newcastle United and Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton.
The current Fleetwood Town boss made the comments following PSG’s 3-2 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League in midweek.
Not the biggest fan of the Brazilian international forward, Barton was scathing in his latest remarks.
“I think he is the Kim Kardashian of football,” he told L’Equipe (via the Mirror).
“Neymar is not the best player in the world, we saw that again in Russia. He is not at the level of [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi, and there are many other players in front of him.
“Neymar, more than a football phenomenon, is an advertising phenomenon, like the Kardashians.”
The Brazilian has started his second season at PSG well, scoring four goals in six appearances across all competition and will be looking to add to that when the French champions take on Rennes on Sunday.

The Kim Kardashian comparison is not the first time Barton has stuck a verbal boot into Neymar.
Shortly after PSG’s loss to Liverpool the former Manchester City midfielder dubbed his performance as a “disgrace” on talkSPORT.
And the aforementioned Kardashian isn’t the first celebrity Barton has compared to Neymar; previously it was Canadian popstar Justin Bieber (who happens to be pals with the ex-Barça man).
