Eden Hazard admits that he prefers Maurizio Sarri’s playing style over that of Jose

Chelsea star Eden Hazard believes the tactics of new manager Maurizio Sarri suit him better than Chelsea’s previous two managers.

The Belgium international, who has completed more dribbles than any player in the division this season (14), has admitted that he prefers playing in Sarri’s system and style rather than that of former bosses Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.

Hazard has been at the centre of Chelsea’s success in recent seasons winning two Premier League titles, under both Conte and Mourinho, as well as lifting an FA Cup and Europa League crown.

“Completely different to Conte and Mourinho.”

However, the Chelsea forward believes that his Maurizio Sarri’s “Sarri-ball” style suits him better and will get him more time on the ball.

“I like to have the ball,” the 27-year-old told Chelsea TV. “Not in my own half, but in the last 30 metres.

“I like this type of game, it’s completely different from Antonio Conte or [Jose] Mourinho before. Like I say, we have more of the ball so for me, it’s not bad.”

The summer transfer business at Stamford Bridge was decidedly low-key compared to some of their rivals and, indeed, compared to some previous transfer windows at Chelsea yet they still snapped up Jorginho from Napoli and Mateo Kovacic on loan from Real Madrid.

Hazard has revealed that those two additions have made an immediate impact helping the London club get off to an unbeaten start in the Premier League. Chelsea have beaten Huddersfield, Arsenal, Newcastle and Bournemouth in their opening four games.

“I think the big difference is we bring in two players, Jorginho and Kovacic, and they are completely different,” he added.

“Of course, they want to keep the ball, we just try to keep the ball more often, and then when we have the chance to score we just need to score. But when we have more of the ball we can have more danger.

“At the moment we are okay, we are winning games, I think we are playing good football, so I’m enjoying it. I want to keep this momentum. The bad thing is now we go to the national team, we want to just keep playing with Chelsea and win games!”

Up next in the Premier League is a trip to newly promoted Cardiff as Chelsea will be hoping to make it five wins from five.
