Leroy Sane confirms birth of daughter after leaving Germany squad

Leroy Sane has welcomed the birth of his daughter after he was given special permission to leave the Germany camp by manager Joachim Low.

The 22-year-old Manchester City forward returned to international duty after being infamously omitted from Low’s squad at this summer’s World Cup finals in Russia.

Sane, prior to returning home, made a seven minute cameo in their goalless UEFA Nations League draw with the newly crowned world champions France; understandably being a new father is at the forefront of his mind, but he’s keeping an eye on their friendly against Peru on August 9.

“Special thank you to the @DFB_Team_EN and my coach Jogi Löw for letting me leave to be at my daughter’s birth,” he wrote on his official Twitter account. “Of course I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the team tomorrow!”

Sane’s international career

A graduate of Schalke’s esteemed academy, the native of Essen has to date made 13 appearances for the German national team (with five of them coming across their last 10 outings) after making his debut against France in November 2015, registering no goals and one assist.

However, he’s only managed to complete the full 90 minutes on four occasions, with the last occurring in a 5-1 win over Azerbaijan last October – the game which he created his only goal to date.
