Man City are one of the best clubs in the world, says Lyon forward Terrier

Lyon forward Martin Terrier is excited to take on Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Lyon were drawn into Group F where, as well as City, they will take on Hoffenheim and Shakhtar Donetsk in the world’s most prestigious club football competition.

Terrier believes City are the favourites, but feels his side will be able to pick up enough points from the other sides to advance to the knockout stages.

“We’ll get into the swing of the Champions League right away against one of the best clubs in the world!” he told Goal.

“City are the favourites, the other two clubs are less impressive. I think the group is balanced and we can move to the second stage.

“We had just finished training at the time of the draw and we watched it all together. We were happy to take City, playing against them is very cool and the team proved last year that they love playing big games.

“To play against some of the best players in the world there, against Guardiola who offers a huge game, we are all looking forward to it.”

While City romped to the Premier League title last season, breaking many records and taking an unprecedented number of points along the way, their campaign in the Champions League ended emphatically and unceremoniously at the hands of Liverpool in the quarter-finals.

City have been touted as one of the favourites to clinch the European Cup this time around, but with elite clubs like Juventus, Liverpool and Barcelona gearing up to dislodge Real Madrid from the pedestal they’ve hogged for the last three years, Guardiola’s men will have to show a steelier resolve this time around.

City go head to head with Lyon on Wednesday, before returning to Premier League action against early stragglers Cardiff City on Saturday.
