Why Juventus are the Champions League’s strongest team – Diego Forlan

Juventus are the Champions League’s strongest team according to former Manchester United and Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan.

The Serie A champions have continued their quest for both domestic and European domination by adding substantial quality to their ranks across the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid and global football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo made the switch from La Liga to Italian football, with Juventus keen on showing their intent prior to the upcoming Champions League campaign this season.

Former United and Atletico forward Forlan has discussed the Italian side’s chances this year, insisting that they are the strongest side to enter the competition and that is helped by the signing of fellow former Red Devils forward Ronaldo.

“I think every team is just happy to be here, then we’ll see how the draw goes,” the former striker told Sky Sports Italia ahead of Wednesday’s draw.

“Juventus are the strongest side out there. They were already strong before, so imagine after signing a player like Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Inter’s season hasn’t started well, but they are a team with great young and experienced players. This is a different competition to all the others.

“Inter are back in the Champions League after so many years and it’s great for the fans and players. They can do well.”

Juventus have been drawn into Group H, coincidentally alongside Ronaldo and Forlan’s former club Manchester United, as well as both Valencia and Young Boys.

The defending Serie A champions have started their new campaign perfectly, winning their opening two games. Next up for Juventus is a game against Parma on Saturday.
